Manchester United legend Andy Cole has thrown his weight behind recent reports which claimed that the Red Devils will spend big during this summer’s transfer window.

The former Red Devils striker spoke about his former club and transfers while he was on Sky Sports as he revealed that Manchester United will have to splash the cash to sign quality players in the bid to close the gap between them and the top two teams namely Liverpool and Manchester City.

Manchester United had a terrible start under Jose Mourinho but things have picked up result-wise since Andy Cole’s former teammate took over.

The Red Devils have become one of the best teams on the European continent form-wise since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was named the interim manager at Old Trafford as a direct replacement for the sacked Jose Mourinho.

Solskjaer has won eight out of the nine games managed by him since his appointment during the second week of last month.

Recent reports claim that Manchester United have set aside a transfer budget of £200m for the Norwegian if he gets the Red Devils managerial job on the long-term.

Manchester United have suffered a great deal since legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 with just two top-four finishes in the Premier League.
