Arsenal have made a new centre back signing one of their priorities in the summer following a poor defensive outing in the Premier League till date.
Several defenders were linked with the Gunners in the winter transfer window but the North Londoners were only able to sign players on loan due to lack of funds.
Juventus defender Daniele Rugani has been touted as a possible defensive reinforcement for the Gunners and Football Tavern believes that the Italian international represents a cheap route to strengthen the team defensively.
The 24-year-old has been on the outskirts of the Juventus team this season with manager Maximiliano Allegri dropping him from the starting XI on numerous occasions this season.
Rugani, who’s rated at £19.8m, has played second fiddle to the centre back partnership of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.
He has made just eight appearances for Juventus in all competitions this season.
Juventus had earlier proposed a swap deal involving Mehdi Benatia and Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey but it was turned down by Gunners boss Unai Emery.
Juventus wanted Aaron Ramsey to join them six months earlier having already agreed on a free transfer move this summer.
Moroccan international player Benatia has left the club for China after the aforementioned swap deal was rebuffed.
