Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign young midfielder Hannibal Mejbri according to reports emanating from the media in France.

Hannibal Mejbri is on the payroll of French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco at the moment.

French media outlet RMC Sport claim that the Red Devils are the front-runners for the aforementioned Mejbri.

The 16-year-old wants to leave the club but Monaco want to hang on to him in the face of strong interests from several European clubs including Manchester United.

Hannibal Mejbri is yet to make his debut for the struggling French Ligue 1 outfit.

AS Monaco are surprisingly languishing in the bottom places on the French Ligue 1 table.

The principality club could suffer relegation from the French Ligue 1 this season with the Champions League campaigners presently one place and one spot off the bottom of the league table.

Monaco are in 19th spot with just 15 points recorded since the start of the season.

Portuguese tactician Leonardo Jardim is back at the club just three months after he was sacked.

Jardim was sacked in October after an underwhelming start to this season and his replacement Thierry Henry didn’t fare better in his three months in charge of the team.
