Controversial Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has turned down the opportunity to play Champions League football at French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) this season.
German publication Suddeutsche Zeitung (via the Daily Mail) revealed that Mesut Ozil was not open to the idea of joining PSG on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
PSG were dealt a big injury blow on Wednesday when it was confirmed that star forward Neymar will miss the next 10 weeks of football with the foot injury in the French Cup clash with Racing Strasbourg last weekend.
Baring any miracle, Neymar will miss the last 16 tie with Premier League giants Manchester United in the Champions League and the French capital club would like to sign a temporary replacement for him.
Mesut Ozil fits the bill as a possible replacement for Neymar at PSG though the French giants are also targeting Chelsea winger Willian.
2014 FIFA World Cup winner Ozil has not really had the best of times at Arsenal since Unai Emery became the Gunners manager last summer.
He has started just 13 league games from the 24 played in this campaign with the Spaniard dropping him on numerous occasions for tactical reasons.
Ozil is the highest paid Arsenal player on a weekly wages of £350,000.
