North London giants Arsenal have surprisingly been linked with a move for Everton midfielder Idrissa ‘Gana’ Gueye before the end of this winter transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, the Gunners are eyeing a transfer for the Senegalese international star as club manager Unai Emery attempts to boost the midfield options at his disposal.
Arsenal are in the hunt for honours in two competitions between now and the rest of the season.
The Gunners are in a top-four battle with other clubs like North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United in addition to the fact that they are in the last 32 of the Europa League where they will face BATE Borisov FC of Belarus.
Arsenal are not the only club in the running for Idrissa Gueye as moneybags like Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are also interested in the 29-year-old midfield enforcer.
PSG have already had a £21m bid turned down by Merseyside club Everton who want to retain his services at the club.
The Toffees’ action on the PSG bid prompted the player to hand in a transfer request in the quest to force through his exit from the club.
He has scored three goals in 83 league appearances since he signed for Everton from Aston Villa in 2016.
