Three-time European champions Manchester United have been handed a big boost ahead of the second half of this season following the news that forward Anthony Martial has agreed on a new contract with the Red Devils.
French international player Martial had previously been linked with a move to Italian Serie A club Inter Milan who were hoping to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding his future at Manchester United.
He had six months left on his current deal with the Red Devils who activated the extra year clause in the contract to take him to the end of the 2019/20 season.
The news of his contract extension was confirmed by experienced journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi who works for French news outlet RMC Sport.
According to him, Anthony Martial will sign the new contract before Friday.
Ex-Monaco star Martial has been one of the standout performers for Manchester United this season.
The 22-year-old was one of the few positives for Manchester United this season when Jose Mourinho was the Red Devils manager before he was sacked and replaced by former club striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in December.
Martial came close to joining the aforementioned Inter Milan in 2017 in a swap deal involving Ivan Perisic but the transfer failed to happen.
