Manchester United may have missed out on one of their transfer targets following the news that Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin has already agreed on a free transfer move to Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan ahead of next season.

This is according to experienced Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano who revealed that the Uruguayan international center back has already done his medical with Inter Milan.

The 32-year-old is on course to sign for Inter Milan this summer on a free transfer upon the expiration of his contract at Atletico Madrid.

Diego Godin has been a transfer target for Manchester United dating back to the start of the season.

Reports claimed that Manchester United activated the release clause in his Atletico Madrid last summer only for the player to reject a move to the Premier League in favour of staying with the Spanish La Liga outfit.

Diego Godin has decided to leave the Spanish capital for Italy after senior Atletico Madrid officials failed to offer him a contract extension with less than six months left on his current deal.

He will reunite with former center back partner Miranda at Inter Milan if the Nerazzurri manage to pull off a free transfer move for the experienced defender.
