Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho has been heavily linked with a £100m transfer to Premier League giants Manchester United in this January transfer window but it looks like the deal won’t happen at all.
This is due to the revelation that the player’s family is not keen to move back to England.
The latest development was made known by Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo via Sky Sports.
Philippe Coutinho left England in January 2018 after completing a big money move to Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona from Liverpool.
The former Inter Milan playmaker became the third most expensive player in the footballing world with the transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona.
It was revealed that the Catalans paid a whopping £142m to secure his transfer.
Only compatriot Neymar (Paris Saint Germain) and French World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe (also of Paris Saint Germain) have been transferred for more money.
Philippe Coutinho has failed to establish himself in the Barcelona XI for one year thereby leading to rumors about his future at the club.
He made his first start in five league games for Barcelona on Sunday in the 3-0 home win over lowly Eibar with Luis Suarez (a brace) and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi getting the goals for the Blaugrana.
