English Premier League side Liverpool are reported to have opened talks with Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas with the hope of securing his signature in this winter transfer window.
The Reds are desperately in need of defenders as they only have Virgil Van Dijk to boast of in the central defence after losing three of their defenders, including Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren.
Kostas Manolas has been tipped to be the player with big quality and having the ability to form a good partnership with the former Southampton star so as to be able to continue the good work until the end of the season.
The title bid for Liverpool becomes threatened at the point owing to the fact that their major strength is now being dipped in injury crisis.
This, therefore, means that they will have to secure more additions so as to be able to beat the competition from second placed side Manchester City.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a good fan of the player and is hopeful of sealing a deal for him before the end of this winter window.
It is therefore unclear if the Italian Serie A outfit will let Kostas Manolas leave the club now.
