Premier League champions Manchester City are lining up a long-term replacement for Brazilian international midfielder Fernandinho.
According to the publication from Football London, the Citizens are eyeing West Ham United player Declan Rice as a potential replacement for Fernandinho.
Declan Rice is a utility player that can play either as a center back or in central midfield.
The young English player was linked with the London duo of Chelsea and Arsenal before he elevated his contract status at West Ham United.
Declan Rice, 19, recently signed a new contract with the Hammers but that has not stopped Manchester City from planning to sign him as a long-term replacement for aging Fernandinho.
The 34-year-old has been a key player for Manchester City since he joined the Premier League champions from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk.
He was an integral part of the Manchester City team that set many records en route to winning the Premier League title at the end of last season.
Fernandinho and Manchester City earned a record 100 points after the 38 games played last season.
It was revealed that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will compile a dossier on Declan Rice between now and the rest of the season to decide whether he has the stamina and quality to replace Fernandinho in the Manchester City midfield.
