Premier League giants Manchester United are prepared to wait till the summer to secure the signing of their top defensive transfer target.
Recent reports claim that Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is the top target for the Red Devils in the bid to boost their squad with a centre back transfer.
According to the publication from popular media outlet ESPN, the Red Devils might not be able to sign the Senegalese international defender in the current transfer window and that they are prepared to wait till the summer to finally get their man.
It was also revealed that the trio of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar, AC Milan player Alessio Romagnoli and Leicester City defender Harry Maguire are backup options for the Red Devils if they are unable to sign Kalidou Koulibaly.
The 27-year-old has been one of the most important players for Napoli since he signed for the Italians in 2014.
Kalidou Koulibaly joined Napoli from Belgian champions Genk five years ago.
He’s widely seen by many football stakeholders as one of the best centre backs on the world football stage.
Earlier reports claimed that Manchester United had a whopping £95m bid rejected for him in December and that it could take up to £107m for Napoli to sanction his exit from the club.
