Three-time European champions Manchester United have reportedly issued a transfer ultimatum to one of their transfer targets.
The Manchester Evening News (MEN) confirmed that Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella is a top target for the Red Devils and that Manchester United have made a take it or leave it to offer for the player.
It was revealed that the Old Trafford giants have made a one-time £30m offer for Italian international playmaker Barella but that’s a long way off his club’s valuation.
Italian Serie A side Cagliari have slapped a £45m transfer fee on the 21-year-old.
Nicolo Barella has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the Italian Serie A since he broke into the first team at Cagliari.
His performances for the Italian club have led to several interests in his signature with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Juventus, Liverpool, Chelsea and Inter Milan mentioned as possible transfer destinations for him.
Red Devils’ top four rivals Chelsea are interested in Nicolo Barella with reports claiming that the Blues see the young Italian midfielder as the replacement for Cesc Fabregas who’s on his way to French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco.
The former French champions have already agreed on a contract with Fabregas until the end of the 2020/21.
