Arsenal have reportedly failed in a £55m bid for Italian Serie A star Cengiz Under as they try to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.

According to the publication from Fotomac via Caughtoffside, the Gunners have had a £55m bid turned down for Cengiz Under by his club.

Turkish international star Under plays his club football for Italian Serie A side AS Roma.

Cengiz Under has been in very good form for AS Roma since his transfer to the club from Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Baskasehir in the summer of 2017.

Cengiz Under has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists for AS Roma in all competitions since he signed for the Italian capital club.

The 21-year-old has been attracting interests from several European sides like Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City.

The Gunners are keen to boost their forward options with the addition of a new winger/forward and Cengiz Under fits the bill.

The Turkish winger could be a like-for-like replacement for injured Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck.

Former Manchester United and Sunderland forward Welbeck has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious ankle injury.

Danny Welbeck has six months left on his current deal with the Gunners.
