Struggling Premier League side Fulham are the frontrunners to sign Chelsea defender Gary Cahill after Arsenal manager Unai Emery dismissed transfer rumours linking the Gunners with a move for him.
This is according to the publication from the Daily Express.
North London giants Arsenal are in the transfer market for a new centre back as Spanish tactician Unai Emery tries to ease his glaring defensive problems with the acquisition of a new defender.
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has been linked with London rivals Arsenal in the past weeks but it seems the recently retired England international will have to look elsewhere in his quest to leave the Blues for more first team opportunities.
He has not been able to convince Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri that he deserves a spot in the starting XI on a regular basis.
Gary Cahill has played just 21 minutes of Premier League football for Chelsea this season.
English Championship side Aston Villa earlier pulled out of the race to sign their former player after they were quoted a loan fee of £4m with a view to making the transfer permanent in the summer.
The player has six months left on his contract with Chelsea.
Fulham have the worst defensive record in the Premier League and they now have a clear run at Gary Cahill with the interests of Aston Villa and Arsenal on the wane.
