Arsenal have been dealt a big transfer blow after one of their targets confirmed that he won’t leave his club during the January transfer window.

Lille forward Nicolas Pepe has been in sensational form for his French Ligue 1 club for the better part of the last two months and that has not gone unnoticed amongst European clubs including Arsenal.

Pepe has addressed the transfer rumours surrounding him by stating that he would stay with Lille for the rest of the season.

The 23-year-old said this in an interview with French media outlet La Voix Du Nord.

Nicolas Pepe has been in very good form for Lille after netting 12 goals and providing seven assists in the French Ligue 1 this season and the new development is a big blow to the Gunners who are keen to recruit a winger/forward in this transfer window.

Arsenal are eyeing a move for an exciting forward as they try to offset the loss of England international forward Danny Welbeck to injury.

Welbeck is recuperating from a serious ankle injury that he suffered during last month’s Europa League clash with Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.

The Englishman has undergone two surgeries and he’s not expected to return to action until next summer.
