Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has been named flop of the year following his disappointing start to life at Old Trafford.

The Chilean international star joined Manchester United from Arsenal in the penultimate transfer window in January in a swap deal involving Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The 30-year-old has failed to live up to expectations at Manchester United since his transfer from the Gunners earlier this year.

When asked about his flop of the year while he was on the Football Writers Podcast via the Daily Express, football commentator David Preece didn’t think twice before mentioning Alexis Sanchez.

The former Barcelona and Udinese Star has been able to score just three goals in 22 appearances in the Premier League since he became a Manchester United player.

Alexis Sanchez has scored just once for Manchester United this season in all competitions.

He came off as a substitute to score the winning goal for Manchester United in their Premier League clash at home to struggling outfit Newcastle United.

The Red Devils came from two goals down to beat the Magpies 3-2 via a late header from Sanchez.

He has been out of action for the better part of the last one month with a hamstring injury but he’s expected back in the team soonest after returning to training.
