Spanish La Liga side Sevilla have identified AS Roma midfielder Javier Pastore as the man to replace compatriot Ever Banega when the winter transfer market reopens in few days time.
Pastore and Banega were international teammates but the former has missed out on the Argentine national team squads of the past few years.
Ever Banega is poised to join Arsenal at the start of the New Year if ongoing transfer reports are anything to go by.
It was revealed that the Gunners want to trigger the £18m release clause in the Sevilla contract of Ever Banega.
The player is no stranger to Arsenal manager Unai Emery who managed him at Sevilla.
Unai Emery is keen to convince the 30-year-old to join the Arsenal revolution under him.
The Spanish tactician might need to replace the Arsenal midfield duo of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey.
Ozil is widely regarded as the best player at Arsenal but he has failed to come to terms with the tactics employed by Unai Emery.
The German could leave the club next month with senior Arsenal officials keen to get his huge weekly wages off the wage bill.
Aaron Ramsey is also free to leave in the New Year after the Gunners failed to offer him a new deal.
