Manchester United are facing a big hurdle in their quest to sign Juventus winger Douglas Costa when the transfer window reopens next week.
This is on the back of news that Red Devils’ city rivals Manchester City also want to sign the Brazilian international star as reported by Italian news outlet Calciomercato.
It was further revealed that Italian Serie A giants Juventus don’t have any plans to sell the 28-year-old.
He has just spent six months as a permanent player of Juventus after spending a successful loan spell with the Italians last season.
Douglas Costa was on a season-long loan deal from German champions Bayern Munich before it was made permanent after the Old Lady paid around €44m for him.
He had impressed a great deal for Juventus scoring six goals in the process.
The Red Devils’ interest in him could be traced back to when the Jose Mourinho was sacked as the manager with widespread rumours saying that club executive Ed Woodward was trying to sign Douglas Costa behind his back in a £36m deal.
Recent reports suggest that Manchester United will definitely need more than that to sign him with the former Shakthar Donetsk player rated at around €70m.
