Arsenal could raid Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam in the upcoming January transfer market in their quest to boost their forward options with a new signing.

The Gunners are said to be interested in Ajax Amsterdam forward Hakeem Ziyech who’s enjoying a fine season in the colours of the five-time European champions.

He has done well to recover from a disappointing 2018 FIFA World Cup outing with the Moroccan national team.

Ziyech and Morocco were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament in Russia.

The North Africans finished last in Group F behind Iran, Portugal and former world champion Spain as Hakeem Ziyech struggled to make an impact for his country during the tournament.

He has recovered well to lead Ajax Amsterdam’s charge for honours at home and abroad.

Hakeem Ziyech has scored 10 goals and provided five assists in 13 appearances for Ajax Amsterdam in the league this season.

His goal contributions have been crucial to the Dutch giants who have kept pace with rivals PSV Eindhoven at the top of the league table as the title race hots up.

Ziyech was a prominent figure in the Ajax side that booked their spot in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a two-legged tie with champions Real Madrid on the horizon in February and March.

Hakeem Ziyech could be a long-term replacement for Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck who’s currently out injured.
