Turkish Super League leaders Istanbul Basaksehir have expressed an interest in a possible transfer for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.
Their interest was registered by club president Goksel Gumudsag in an interview monitored by popular German newspaper Bild.
The future of Mesut Ozil at Arsenal has been up for discussion in the past few days after he was left out of the Gunners’ 18-man squad for the Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium last week.
Without Ozil in the Arsenal squad, the Gunners were beaten 2-0 as their neighbours booked a spot in the last four competitions where they will face Chelsea over two legs next year.
Arsenal and club manager Unai Emery had revealed that the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner was dropped for tactical reasons.
Various media reports have stated that Mesut Ozil could be on his way out of Arsenal after failing to settle under the new Gunners management of former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Valencia boss Unai Emery.
Ozil, 30, had earlier been left out of the Arsenal XI for the away game at Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Unlike the Tottenham game, Arsenal had no problems without Ozil as they won 2-1 against the Cherries last month.
