English Premier League side Chelsea have been tipped to be in pole position to sign Lille star Thiago Mendes after they are reported to have prepared a bid to have him join the Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks when the winter transfer window reopens.

The West London side are desperate for more additions in the middle and they are believed to be ready to meet with the asking price of the Lille star when the winter window reopens.

The Blues are no doubt close to losing some star players like Danny Drinkwater and former Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas in some week’s time which makes a replacement for the inevitable.

Both players have expressed their frustration at not securing regular playing time in the manager Maurizio Sarri team which makes them ponder a move away from the club in January.

Thiago Mendes has been impressive so far this season and he could just be the deal for the West London club as they battle to replace the fourth position with North London side Arsenal right behind them.

However, the 26-year-old has a contract with French side until 2022 but there are indications that he might not see out the contract before finding his way out owing to the many interests on the table for him.
