Journalist Alex Goldberg has revealed that Premier League giants Manchester United won’t sign Juventus winger in the upcoming January transfer window for two reasons.

Alex Goldberg talked about the Brazilian international player on the Calcioland podcast via the Daily Star.

Goldberg is the producer and co-host of the Calcioland podcast.

Douglas Costa has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United at almost the same time as the sacking of former Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese tactician was dismissed from his post on Tuesday morning as he paid the price for a disappointing start to the new season.

Various media reports claimed that the former Real Madrid and FC Porto manager discovered that club executive Ed Woodward has been planning a £36m move for Douglas Costa behind his back when he was sacked.

Alex Goldberg stated that Manchester United won’t be able to sign Douglas Costa next month as Juventus need all their players including the regular non-starters in their quest to win the Champions League starting with the last 16 clash with Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid next year.

According to him, the second reason is that the player just secured a permanent transfer to Juventus in the summer in a deal worth around €44m.

He had earlier spent last season on a one-year loan deal from German champions Bayern Munich.
