Manchester United are targeting three defensive players ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window according to various reports coming out of the British media.

The Daily Mirror claim that the Red Devils are ready to hand interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a sizeable transfer kitty for new players despite the dismissal of Jose Mourinho and that the signing of a new centre back is the priority when the January transfer window reopens next month.

It was revealed that the trio of Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium), Eder Militao (FC Porto and Brazil) and Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli and Senegal).

Interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was confirmed as the Red Devils boss until the end of the season earlier this week after Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday morning.

The former Manchester United striker will be handed a transfer kitty of around £50m for transfers.

Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld was previously linked with a transfer to Manchester United in the summer but nothing came out of it.

The Belgian international is rated at around £30m.

FC Porto player Eder Militao has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United since his summer move from Brazil to Portugal and is rated at £40m.

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, rated at £90m, is the last name on the list of top three defensive targets for the Red Devils ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
