Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has made a big transfer claim about Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil after the German was dropped from the Arsenal squad for the Carabao Cup game with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner was snubbed for the Tottenham Hotspur game due to tactical reasons as confirmed by the Arsenal manager, Unai Emery.
The decision came back to haunt Unai Emery and Arsenal as the Gunners lost 2-0 to their North London rivals courtesy goals from Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli either side of the halftime interval.
On the decision to snub Ozil via the Daily Express, Steve Nicol revealed that Arsenal will sell the former Real Madrid and Werder Bremen star when the transfer window reopens in few weeks time.
Steve Nicol said this while he was doing his punditry job on popular media outlet ESPN.
Recent reports had claimed that Mesut Ozil could leave the Gunners in January after failing to adapt to the playing style of Spanish tactician Unai Emery.
The German still has two-and-a-half years left on the new three-year contract that he signed in February.
Ozil, 30, has been linked with other European clubs like Inter Milan and Manchester United.
