European champions Real Madrid have emerged as favourites to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The Uruguayan international player was linked with a move to the Los Merengues last weekend.
Lucas Torreira recently featured prominently for Uruguay at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
The 22-year-old was part of the Uruguay team that reached the quarterfinals at the tournament before they were knocked out by France who won a second World Cup title in Russia.
Bookmakers say that Champions League holders Real Madrid are favourites to sign Lucas Torreira.
According to Alex Apati of Ladbrokes via the Daily Star, Real Madrid are at the odds of 7/4 to sign him ahead of arch-rivals Barcelona (3/1) and Premier League champions Manchester City (10/3).
Lucas Torreira has been in sensational form for Arsenal since he signed for the club in the summer.
The Gunners agreed to a transfer fee of around £26m with Italian Serie A side Sampdoria for the petite midfielder and it’s to be paid in three instalments.
He was an integral part of the Arsenal side that went through 22 games in all competitions without suffering a single defeat.
The run came to an end at the weekend following the 3-2 defeat at the hands of Southampton at the weekend.
