West London outfit Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is still keen on the signature of AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain in the winter transfer window which reopens in coming weeks.

It has been reported that the Italian boss had made enquiry of the Argentine international from the San Siro in a bid to unite with him again at the Stamford Bridge.

Both Sarri and Gonzalo Higuain had worked together at Italian Serie A side Napoli where they both had successful spell and enjoyed a good working relationship.

However, latest reports claim that the former Napoli boss has officially told the Chelsea management that he wants to have the Milan striker to his side in the second stanza of the season.

The Chelsea boss also noted to the board that his strikers have been lacking in goal scoring form and it could hurt the team in the second half of the season which starts in January.

Although Gonzalo Higuain has not lived up to expectation since joining AC Milan, Sarri is still positive that there can be a repeat of his success at Napoli in the Stanford Bridge.

Meanwhile, the West London side are fourth place in the league title and will hope to keep the press with a more robust squad so as to qualify to the Champions League next season.
