Chelsea gunning for £55m-rated Ligue 1 forward

English Premier League side Chelsea are keen to secure the signature of French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani amid other interests coming from England.

The West London side will seek to add Edinson Cavani’s strength to their attack as Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud seem not to be in their best form at the moment.

The Uruguay international has been identified as a good fit for the Blues side with manager Maurizio Sarri being a big fan of the star player and ready to pay big to land him at the Stamford Bridge in January when the winter transfer window reopens.

Although the Blues side are expected to face competition from their Premier League rivals, Manchester United following reports that the Red Devils are also interested in his signature.

Having joined PSG from Napoli with a fee of £65 million in 2013, Edinson Cavani has been a special player in the French side and that has not changed as he has scored a total of 12 goals with the 15 appearances under his belt this season.

However, with his contract expected to terminate at the French side in 2020, the Blues must be ready to meet up with his £60 million release clause if they must have him in the coming winter window.
