Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has revealed that he had the option to join other clubs before he signed his scholarship forms at the club.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria star was not sure if the Gunners will release him or not but he eventually stayed at Arsenal having graduated from the club’s Academy.
Iwobi also confirmed that three British clubs were willing to sign him before he committed his future to the Gunners.
The Arsenal Academy graduate made the revelation in a chat with the London Evening Standard.
According to him, Scottish Premier League champions Celtic as well as the Premier League duo of Crystal Palace and Southampton were all interested in him before he signed scholarship forms with the North London giants.
Alex Iwobi has emerged as one of the most consistent players in the Arsenal setup under new manager Unai Emery.
The 47-year-old took charge of the Arsenal team in the summer after putting pen to paper on a three-year contract to replace long-serving boss Arsene Wenger.
Frenchman Wenger had earlier ended his 22-year reign at Arsenal at the end of last season.
Alex Iwobi has made 13 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions since the start of the season, scoring once and providing four assists in those games.
