Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari is reportedly eyeing a move for experienced Manchester United midfielder Juan Manuel Mata.
This is according to El Gol Digital via the Daily Express.
It was revealed that Solari wants to sign Mata on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
The Spanish international player has six months left on his current contract with the Red Devils and he can start to speak to foreign clubs including Manchester United about a potential free transfer move next summer.
The publication claim that the aforementioned Mata is not interested in extending his Manchester United contract.
It was further stated that the Real Madrid boss is targeting Mata as a replacement for compatriot Isco who has fallen out of favour with Santiago Solari.
Isco has dropped out of the Real Madrid starting XI since Santiago Solari became the manager.
Juan Mata has failed to nail down a permanent spot in the Manchester United team under club manager Jose Mourinho.
He has started in just seven games in the Premier League.
Mata has scored three goals and provided two assists for Manchester United in all competitions.
The former Chelsea playmaker had previously been linked with a move to rivals Arsenal and Spanish La Liga side Valencia.
