Manchester United have prioritised the need for a defensive reinforcement ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to begin in a few weeks time.
One of the defensive transfer targets linked with Manchester United is Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and the Senegalese international centre-back is open to the transfer according to transfer-talk.
Kalidou Koulibaly is widely regarded by many as one of the best centre-backs in world football.
He was part of the Senegal team that failed to advance beyond the group stage of this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in the European nation of Russia.
Koulibaly and Senegal were knocked out in Group H via their inferior disciplinary record to second-placed Japan.
The 27-year-old has grown to become a key player for Italian Serie A giants Napoli since he joined the club in the summer of 2014.
He has played under the managerial reign of Rafael Benitez, Maurizio Sarri and Carlo Ancelotti (present manager) at Napoli.
Manchester United and Chelsea are said to be in the hunt for the Senegalese centre-back but the Red Devils have jumped to the front of their rivals in the race to sign him.
The Red Devils had a £77m bid rejected for him with the Italian Serie A giants said to be holding out for £90m.
