Wolves Join Queue For Arsenal Target
Newly promoted Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers are the latest European club to show an interest in Lille forward Nicolas Pepe ahead of the mid-season transfer window scheduled to begin in few weeks time.
According to the publication from hitc, scouts from Wolves were in attendance to run the rule over him during his Lille side’s win over Montpellier last week.
Ivorian international winger Nicolas Pepe is one of the most sought-after forwards in European football.
He has been strongly linked with Arsenal in recent weeks as Gunners boss Unai Emery look to offset the loss of Danny Welbeck to injury by signing a forward player.
Danny Welbeck was doing well and also scoring goals for the Gunners before his unfortunate injury against Portuguese Super League club Sporting Lisbon.
The 27-year-old sustained a serious ankle injury and thereafter underwent two surgeries to correct the problem.
He’s now expected to miss the rest of the season thus leaving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as the only senior striker options at the club.
Pepe would definitely be a fantastic addition to the Gunners setup as the North Londoners battle the trio of Chelsea, Manchester United and rivals Tottenham Hotspur for a top-four spot at the end of this season.
