West London side Chelsea are reported to be making efforts to seal a permanent deal for star midfielder Mateo Kovacic having contacted his real owners Real Madrid.
Reports are that talks are already ongoing with the Spanish giants with the hope that an agreement could be reached ahead of the winter transfer window which reopens in the coming weeks.
The West Londoners managed to secure the service of Mateo Kovacic in a loan deal that saw Belgium stopper Thibaut Courtois leave to the other side.
Since his switch to England, Mateo Kovacic has been a better player than he was with the Spanish La Liga side and he seems to be ready for a reward with the Chelsea side having won the heart of manager Maurizio Sarri.
Spanish outlet AS reports that Real Madrid will not stop a deal for Mateo Kovacic as they might not be in need of him anymore.
The star midfielder has also started hinting that he is happy to remain with the English league giants because of his love for the city as well as the team.
However, the Blues could be asked to pay the sum of £26 million for the player’s signature for a permanent deal.
