Chelsea have emerged as overwhelming favourites to sign unsettled Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
The Blues are willing to spend as much as £45m on the Spanish international midfielder according to the publication from the Daily Express.
His long-term future at Barcelona is in doubt due to limited opportunities at the club under manager Ernesto Valverde.
Apart from Chelsea, the 24-year-old has been linked with other European heavyweights like Arsenal and AC Milan.
Earlier reports claim that the player favours a move to Arsenal ahead of other interested clubs.
Denis Suarez has been on the fringes of the Barcelona first team since he returned to the club from fellow Spanish side Villareal in 2016.
The Blues’ interest in him is not surprising after he came close to joining Italian Serie A giants Napoli on two occasions while new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri was at the club.
Napoli still retain their interest in the Spaniard alongside Milan who are in the transfer market for midfield reinforcements so as to solve the mini-crisis in their midfield.
AC Milan midfielders Giacomo Bonaventura and Lucas Biglia are long-term absentees for the seven-time European champions.
Both players are not expected back until the New Year.
