Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been in the news for the better part of the last one week after he was unceremoniously dropped for the penultimate league clash with South Coast club Bournemouth.
The 2014 World Cup winner was an unused substitute as the Gunners ran out 2-1 winners at the expense of the Cherries.
Since he was dropped, the 30-year-old has been heavily linked with Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.
The former Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen playmaker had previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford before he decided to put pen to paper on a new contract at Arsenal earlier this year.
Ozil signed a new three-year contract with the Gunners in February to take him to the end of the 2020/21 season.
Those transfer rumors of a potential move to Manchester United have resurfaced in the last few days in the aftermath of him being dropped for the Bournemouth game.
Mesut Ozil was also absent with a questionable back spasm as Arsenal came from behind to beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 courtesy three second-half goals in their Premier League clash at the weekend.
Apart from Manchester United, Ozil has been linked with other European heavyweights such as Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Juventus among others.
