Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan could offer Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil an escape route from his nightmare at the Emirates Stadium following the news that the Nerazurri are keen on a transfer for the recently retired German international star next summer.
Ozil signed a three-year contract in February to take him until the end of the 2020/21 but his future is in serious doubt as a result of his well documented struggles under new Gunners manager Unai Emery.
The 30-year-old put pen to paper on a contract extension at Arsenal while club legend Arsene Wenger was in charge of the team.
Wenger stepped down at the end of last season and he was swiftly replaced by Spanish tactician Unai Emery.
Mesut Ozil has struggled to impose himself on the team under the former Sevilla and Valencia manager.
He has been left out of the Arsenal starting XI in recent games thereby fuelling reports of a transfer away from the club.
The 2014 World Cup winner was an unused substitute in the penultimate league game against Bournemouth (2-1 away win for the Gunners) before missing out of the home game against rivals Tottenham Hotspur (4-2 victory for Arsenal) with a back problem.
The interest of Inter Milan was confirmed by the Daily Star.
It was also revealed that Inter Milan were interested in the German in the summer.
