Andreas Christensen

Spanish giants Barcelona are reported to be in talks with Chelsea over the possible signature of Danish central defender Andreas Christensen in the coming January transfer window after making official contacts.

The La Liga giants are desperate to secure a replacement for Samuel Umtiti who is injured and likely to have a knee surgery which is expected to see him out of action for a number of weeks.

With Andreas Christensen being out of favour at the Stamford Bridge, he could be lured out of England especially if the right offers are made for him by the Spanish side.

Although, manager Maurizio Sarri is not willing to let Andreas Christensen leave despite not having enough playing time as he wishes to have a standard back-up should cases of injuries or loss in form arises.

This, therefore, makes it difficult for Barcelona to be able to convince the West London side into having Andreas Christensen sold as early as in the January transfer window.

Efforts by Barcelona to secure high profile defenders have continued to drag as most clubs are unwilling to release their assets away.

However, they Blues will be forced to release Andreas Christensen for a move to Barcelona if the player is insisting on leaving the club.

Andreas Christensen

Spanish La Liga outfit Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has reacted to claims that he is the pursuit of English premier League side Chelsea star Andreas Christensen.

Andreas Christensen was linked to Barcelona some few weeks back with the report stating that he is wanted at  Camp Nou.

In his response, manager Ernesto Valverde stated that he is happy with his squad and will rather stick with them until the return of French international Umtiti.

The Chelsea star was a major part of Blues team when former manager Antonio Conte was in charge but the situation changed for him with the coming of the Italian boss Maurizio Sarri.

Andreas Christensen is therefore considering a move away from the Stamford Bridge as he hopes to continue his career elsewhere.

The 22-year-old extended his contract with Chelsea at the beginning of the year until 2022 and there are suggestions that his wish to move on could be blocked because of the high need of the club for him.

Andreas Christensen is believed to have age on his side and could still have his place in the heart of the West London team because of the shorter days of Brazilian international David Luiz at the club.

Mourinho

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has explained the reason behind the decision to sell Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah to Italian Serie A giants AS Roma while he was the Chelsea boss.

According to the Portuguese tactician, Egyptian international star Salah was not mentally ready for the Premier League while he was a Chelsea player.

Jose Mourinho spoke about Salah during his pre-match thoughts ahead of the Red Devils clash with Liverpool billed for Sunday evening.

Liverpool started the weekend at the top of the table and a win against rivals Liverpool at home will take them back to the Premier League summit.

English champions Manchester City are at the top of the table following their 3-1 win over Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Jose Mourinho signed Mohamed Salah from Swiss side FC Basel for £11m in 2014 but the Egyptian didn’t make the grade at Stamford Bridge.

He made just 13 Premier League outings for the Blues before he was sold to Italian giants AS Roma in 2016.

Salah became an instant hit at Liverpool following his transfer from Roma last summer.

The 26-year-old scored a whopping 44 goals for the Reds in all competitions in his debut campaign as he helped Liverpool to the Champions League final.

Mourinho would be plotting how to stop Salah ahead of his side’s away league meeting with Liverpool.
