Paul Merson further added that Unai Emery won’t come under pressure for dropping Ozil in the last game against South Coast club Bournemouth and that the Spaniard will face the heat when he drops a player that he spent a club-record fee of £60m on.

Retired German international playmaker Ozil was dropped for the away game against in the Premier League and it has the desired effect as the Gunners ended a run of three successive league draws to record a 2-1 victory.

Arsenal took the lead in the first through an own goal from Colombian midfielder Jefferson Lerma.

He put through his own net off a cross from Sead Kolasinac.

The home side equalised through Joshua King on the stroke of halftime but it was the Gunners who took the initiative in the second half.
