Italian Serie A side SS Lazio are reported to be preparing a bid for Chelsea right full-back Davide Zappacosta with the hope of having his services for the second stanza of the current campaign.
The West London secured the service of the Italian international defender in 2017 from Torino for a fee of about £23 million and there are indications he is favouring a move back to his homeland.
Davide Zappacosta has never been a major part of the Blues team as he has only been a second-half player under former manager Antonio Conte and now Italian boss Maurizio Sarri.
Although, Davide Zappacosta has started all four games for Chelsea in four of their Europa League fixtures but that is not enough for the 26-years-old who has not seen more than a Premier League game.
The Italian defender is keen to have regular playing time knowing that he is in his prime and needs to showcase his quality before his career starts winding down in coming years.
However, he could return back to regular playing time at the second half of the current campaign if a move to Lazio eventually falls through.
It is therefore not clear if Sarri will let Davide Zappacosta leave the Stamford Bridge knowing he is the only cover they have got for the position.
