Three-time European champions Manchester United are said to be eyeing a multi-million pounds swoop for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as they prepare for life without first-choice shot-stopper David De Gea.
Spanish international star De Gea could leave Manchester United at the end of this season with the club struggling to convince to put pen to paper on a long-term contract.
He initially had six months left on his current contract before Manchester United exercised the option of the additional year in his deal thus taking him to the end of the 2019/20 season.
David De Gea has been strongly linked with other European heavyweights such as French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Italian giants Juventus.
The Spaniard could move to one of the aforementioned clubs next summer if he fails to agree to a new contract with Manchester United.
According to the report from iNews, Jordan Pickford has been identified as one of three goalkeeping options to replace De Gea if he does not agree a new contract.
The 24-year-old England international star has emerged as the number one goalkeeper for both club and country thereby attracting the interest of Manchester United.
He was part of the England squad that finished fourth at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
