North London giants Arsenal have reportedly joined the race to sign highly-rated Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to begin as from the 1st of January.
According to the publication from French news outlet L’Equipe via TeamTalk, Arsenal are the latest club to show interested in the 20-year-old.
Houssem Aouar has been in sensational form for Lyon in the new campaign.
He has impressed in both the Champions League and the French Ligue 1 this season.
The Frenchman has scored five goals and provided four assists in all competitions for Lyon this term.
He was impressive in both Champions League games against favourites Manchester City.
Aouar was an influential figure as his Lyon side stunned Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium before producing a similar display in the return fixture, a 2-2 draw with the Citizens at the Groupama Stadium in France.
Apart from Arsenal, clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City are said to be monitoring his progress at Lyon.
The Gunners are almost certain to lose midfielder Aaron Ramsey at the end of this season and Houssem Aouar could be the replacement for the Welsh international player.
Ramsey is on his way out of the club after the Arsenal hierarchy failed to offer him a new contract.
