Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has backed Rangers’ bid to sign former teammate Ashley Cole when the January transfer window reopens in the next few weeks.
Ashley Cole and Ray Parlour played together for the Gunners.
They were part of the Arsenal team that went through the 2003/04 Premier League season without a single defeat.
Scottish Premier League (SPL) giants Rangers have been strongly linked with Ashley Cole after he became a free agent earlier this week.
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour spoke about him while he was a guest on popular English media portal Sky Sports as he backed Rangers manager Steven Gerrard to make a move for Ashley Cole in the New Year.
Ashley Cole became a free agent on Monday following his release by Major League Soccer (MLS) side LA Galaxy after two years with the club.
He scored three goals in 86 appearances for the Los Angeles-based side.
Several reports still claim that the club can still re-sign Cole despite releasing him.
The 37-year-old joined LA Galaxy from Italian Serie A side AS Roma in 2016.
The Arsenal Academy graduate came through the Gunners’ rank before making his debut for the club in 1999.
Ashley Cole signed for London rivals Chelsea in 2006 and spent eight years before leaving for AS Roma.
