Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign highly-rated Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to start as from January 1.
According to the publication from popular English news platform Daily Mirror, Tottenham have joined North London rivals Arsenal as well as Manchester United on the queue of teams interested in the Danish defender.
Joachim Andersen has produced several impressive outings for Sampdoria and that has led to talks of a transfer to one of the European heavyweights.
Arsenal and Manchester United have had defensive issues in the new season with both clubs looking for reinforcements in the New Year.
The two teams have kept just two clean sheets in 13 games of the Premier League this season.
Arsenal didn’t concede in consecutive home league games against Everton and Watford, while Manchester United were able to keep a clean sheet in the away game against Burnley on Matchday 4 as well as the last league outing against London side Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
Joachim Andersen, 22, has been touted as a possible transfer addition for the two clubs but they will have to contend with Tottenham Hotspur who might need to replace defender Toby Alderweireld in the New Year.
Toby could leave the club with less than a year left on his current deal though Tottenham can activate the clause of an additional year in his contract.
