Arsenal will have to see off the threat of Premier League top four rivals Chelsea in their bid to sign highly-rated AS Roma winger Cengiz Under when the transfer window reopens in the next few weeks.
Turkish international star Under has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but it appears that London rivals Chelsea are also keen on a transfer for the 21-year-old.
There have been reports claiming that the Gunners will make a £44m bid for him as they seek to replace the injured Danny Welbeck who recently suffered a season-ending injury.
The England international forward broke his ankle in the Gunners’ last Europa League outing against Portuguese Super League giants Sporting Lisbon earlier this month.
The 27-year-old sustained the serious ankle injury in the first half of the game at the Emirates Stadium which ended in a goalless draw.
Since his injury, Arsenal have been linked with several forward options as they bid to soften the blow of losing Welbeck for the rest of the season.
West London giants Chelsea are also said to be keen on Cengiz Under with the club ready to offer a cash-plus-player deal to secure his transfer ahead of the Gunners.
Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has already been touted as the player that could be part of the deal to sign Cengiz Under.
