Manchester United have one of the worst defensive records in the Premier League this season and manager Jose Mourinho is said to be losing sleep over ways to solve the problem.
According to the report from trusted English news outlet Daily Mirror, the Portuguese tactician has identified Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly has the man to put an end to the Red Devils’ defensive issues.
Senegalese international defender Koulibaly has built a reputation as one of the best centre-backs on the world football stage with his impressive outings for his Italian Serie A side since he joined the club from Belgian champions Genk in 2014.
He has made 29 appearances for Senegal since his debut in 2015 and was recently part of the Senegal team that crashed out in the group stage of this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
The West Africans were eliminated via the disciplinary route after they finished on identical stats with one of Asia’s representatives, Japan.
Manchester United have conceded 21 goals in just 13 league games and that has been crucial in the Red Devils’ ailing Premier League title challenge.
Mourinho and his players are a whopping 14 points behind city rivals and defending champions Manchester City on the league table.
