Manchester United have been handed a crushing blow in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante following the news that the Frenchman will put pen to paper on a new contract at his club.
According to the publication from trusted English media outlet The Telegraph, the World Cup winner will sign a new contract to make him the highest earner at Chelsea.
It was further revealed that the Blues contract offer is for five years until the end of the 2022/23 season and it’s reportedly worth around £300,000 on a weekly basis.
Apart from Manchester United, French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) were also linked with a move for him in the summer in the wake of his France heroics.
Kante was one of the key players for the French team that won this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia courtesy a 4-2 victory over fellow Europeans Croatia in their final meeting.
N’Golo Kante became a Chelsea player in the summer of 2016 some weeks after he led unfancied Leicester City to the Premier League title under the guidance of then Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri.
He went on to win the league title in his debut campaign with Chelsea before adding the FA Cup title at the end of last season.
