Having seen PSG forwards Neymar and Mbappe picked up an injury while in action for their respective countries, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp can’t ask for more ahead of their Champions League’s all-important clash against PSG.
The international break has its positive effect on players as it helps them remain in top form and in good shape, however, it could turn out to be a very bad thing for some clubs whenever their players get injured while playing for their fatherland.
In yesterday’s intentional friendly match between Brazil and Cameroon, former Barcelona star Neymar had “a right adductor strain” just seven minutes into the game and was eventually hauled off.
The Seleccao went on to defeat their African opponents by a lone goal which was scored by Everton’s summer signing Richarlison.
The gravity of the injury would be dictated later today as the former Santos and Barcelona star is back to PSG for treatment.
Just like his PSG teammate, France wonderkid Kylian Mbappe was injured in France’s 1-0 victory over Uruguay on Tuesday. The Youngster lasted just 30 minutes of the encounter before bruising his right shoulder.
In their medical report on both players injury, Paris St-German medical team confirmed that Neymar and Mbappe sustained minor injuries but they couldn’t predict how long they will be sidelined until tomorrow.
This report will definitely be a bad one for Thomas Tuchel who needs all his players to be in perfect condition ahead of his clash with Liverpool.
Neymar and Mbappe have both enjoyed a great start to the season as their partnership has produced 26 goals —13 apiece — in all competitions.
As for Jurgen Klopp, this will be a great news, not because he wants to see both players suffer pain but because he knows what havoc their presence could cause his team’s hope of qualifying to the next stage of the competition.
As it stands, it hasn’t been confirmed if both players will miss out, however, the injuries will surely be in Klopp’s favour.
Should Neymar and his injured striking partner recover in time to feature against Liverpool, it is certain their performance won’t be as blistering as it should be due to the fact they are just coming back from injuries.
Meanwhile, Klopp must begin to let his players know the importance of the game against PSG so as to avoid seeing them got carried away by the players respective injuries.
Should they let down their guard, thinking Neymar and Mbappe are just returning from injury or are not included in matchday squad — as the case may be, then they might have themselves to blame at the end of the game.
This is because a certain pacy and deadly Angel Di Maria is still in the team while Edison Cavani is equally capable of causing problems to the Liverpool backline.
Since the addition of Mbappe and Neymar from Monaco and Barcelona respectively, the Uruguayan international has seen his impact in the team reduced dramatically.
He will be hoping to prove a point in their absence and that’s why Klopp’s men need to remain intact and active throughout the upcoming Champions League encounter next week
