Premier League giants Manchester United will have to pay a world record fee for Milan Skriniar if they have to secure his transfer from Italian Serie A side Inter Milan.
This is according to the report from popular English news outlet TeamTalk.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is desperate to boost his ailing defence with a new centre back when the transfer window reopens in the New Year and he has identified the Slovakian international star as the man to do the job.
The Red Devils have the worst defensive record in the top 14 of the Premier League this season.
Manchester United have conceded 21 goals in the first twelve games of the season with just one clean sheet to show for their troubles.
Jose Mourinho requested for a new centre back in the summer but he didn’t get his wish and the Red Devils have paid dearly for it with their defensive generosity in the new season.
Milan Skriniar has been hugely impressive for Inter Milan since he joined the club from fellow Italian Serie A side Sampdoria in a €20m deal last summer.
The aforementioned publication claimed that Manchester United will have to pay a world record fee for a defender for the 23-year-old.
It would take €100m (£88m) to prise him away from the San Siro.
