Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is strongly interested in a move for highly rated West Ham United defender Declan Rice when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
The Portuguese tactician has told senior club bosses to rival Chelsea in the quest to sign the 19-year-old.
Declan Rice would be a fantastic addition to either Manchester United or Chelsea due to his versatility.
The Englishman can play either as a defender or a defensive midfielder.
He was previously on the books of Chelsea before the 2012 Champions League winners released him at the age of 14.
Rice joined London rivals West Ham United after he was released by the Blues and thereafter rose through the ranks before making his first team debut in the last campaign.
He has a contract that runs until the end of next season and that has led to doubts over his future at the club.
Declan Rice is currently on a weekly salary of just £3,000 and he has already rejected an improved contract of £20,000 per week.
He’s said to be holding out for double the amount of the contract offer from the Hammers.
Manchester United and Chelsea won’t have much problems offering him the said £40,000 weekly wages in a bid to secure his signing.
