2012 Champions League winners Chelsea have been handed a big boost in their bid to sign highly-rated Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele following the news that Premier League title rivals Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign the 21-year-old when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
Several media reports claimed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is happy with his attacking options at the moment and that he won’t be signing the hugely talented player.
Liverpool have the quartet of Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in attack as well as the forgotten Reds duo of Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke.
The Merseyside club also added Swiss international star Xerdan Shaqiri to their attacking ranks in the summer.
The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan player signed for Liverpool during the summer’s transfer window after the Reds paid the £13m release clause in his contract at Stoke City who were relegated at the end of the last Premier League campaign.
The World Cup winner has been linked with a move to the English top flight ahead of the next transfer window scheduled to start as from the 1st of January.
The Frenchman has been underwhelming for Barcelona since he signed for the Nou Camp giants last summer for an initial fee of around €105m plus add-ons of €35m.
