Three-time European champions Manchester United have failed in their pursuit of Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey following the news that German champions Bayern Munich have won the race to sign him at the end of the season.
According to the publication from the Independent, the Gunners star will team up with the Bavarian giants next summer after Bayern Munich recorded a breakthrough in talks with his representatives.
Bayern have won the keenly contested race to sign the 27-year-old ahead of other European sides like Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester United, AC Milan and Juventus.
His future at the Emirates Stadium was thrown into doubt after the Arsenal hierarchy withdrew the contract offer he had been given.
Aaron Ramsey has less than a year on his current Arsenal deal meaning that he can start to talk to foreign clubs about a potential free transfer move as from the New Year.
His free transfer move to Bayern Munich could be announced as soon as January depending on the parties involved.
Ramsey has spent over a decade with Arsenal after joining the club from newly promoted Premier League side Cardiff City in the summer of 2008.
Arsenal won the race to sign him ahead of Manchester United.
